CEO of the Culinary Arts Commission of the Saudi Ministry of Culture

Mayada Badr is a renowned Saudi chef and entrepreneur, and the CEO of the Culinary Arts Commission in the Kingdom. She received her BBA in design management at Parsons School of Design and pursued her culinary education at the prestigious institution, Le Cordon Bleu, in Paris, where she completed her Grand Diplôme.

Back in the Kingdom, Chef Mayada founded Pink Camel, a high-end French patisserie in Jeddah, best known for its unique fusions of macaron flavours. She is also the founder of her food consulting company and recently opened the Black Cardamom, a restaurant in Jeddah. Leading the Saudi culinary scene, Chef Mayada has already transcended many barriers both in the Kingdom and across the world. In 2018, Chef Mayada was chosen by the prestigious Parisian caterers, Potel et Chabot, to design the dessert Menu, which reflected a Saudi flavour experience for the Al-Ula Gala in the Louvre, Paris.

In her new role as the CEO of the Culinary Arts, Chef Mayada seeks to advance the objectives of the Commission as well as facilitate partnerships with education centres to promote culinary education within Saudi Arabia. She plans to collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture to explore sustainable methods of food production as well as promote domestic culinary food tourism and diplomacy within the Kingdom.
