Dr. Imen Rabeh

Dr. Imen Rabeh is a Tunisian marine biologist and environmental scientist specializing in marine ecotoxicology, aquatic ecophysiology, and coastal ecosystem restoration. She earned her PhD in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis, where her research focused on osmoregulation and lipid metabolism in fish under low-salinity conditions. She subsequently pursued postdoctoral research on the biotechnological valorization of marine bioresources and the application of Nature-based Solutions for the restoration of degraded coastal wetlands.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Rabeh has developed extensive expertise in environmental monitoring, marine pollution assessment, ecotoxicology, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable coastal management. She has authored and co-authored more than 60 scientific publications and over 40 conference communications, while supervising numerous undergraduate and graduate students. Her research contributes to advancing knowledge on the impacts of pollutants on marine ecosystems and to developing innovative strategies for ecosystem rehabilitation and resilience.

Beyond academia, Dr. Rabeh is deeply engaged in environmental governance and civil society. As President of the Tunisian Association for the Protection of Nature and the Environment of Korba (ATPNE-Korba), she actively promotes climate adaptation, citizen engagement, environmental education, and community-based conservation initiatives. She has led and contributed to numerous projects aimed at strengthening coastal resilience, preserving biodiversity, and fostering sustainable development.

Driven by a profound passion for nature, science, and gastronomy, Dr. Rabeh advocates for stronger connections between biodiversity conservation, sustainable food systems, and cultural heritage. She believes that gastronomy can serve as a powerful catalyst for environmental awareness, responsible consumption, and the valorization of local and marine resources. Through her scientific research, teaching, and civic engagement, she seeks to bridge science, policy, and society to advance sustainable development and inspire future generations to protect and celebrate the natural world.
